In this series I capture intimate and evasive self portraits of myself during quarantine. I also capture still life images of objects that bring me comfort paired with excerpts from my quarantine diaries. I realize now, this series is about me getting to know myself. I want to emphasize how most of my self portraits are taken to present myself through my lens and not in person. I put on my made up self to present to the world or chose to be more vulnerable in my domestic space; but also vulnerable with myself. Getting to know and love myself again through small things like putting on pretty makeup or a nice warm bath. However, Looking shiney and beautiful on the outside doesn’t mean you always feel that way on the inside. Look into my eyes and observe my body language. What do you see? I’m using my camera as a tool to be vulnerable with myself and learn who I am again. Recognizing my flaws and my beauty. I juxtapose contrasting elements; beautiful lighting, aesthetics, & extreme makeup looks in domestic space.
